migration of the eyebrows can significantly change the facial
appearance and is often associated with a person's perceived
emotional status. If the brows are too low in the midline,
an angry appearance is projected. A confused, sad or fatigued
appearance is often associated with brows that are too low
on the outer aspects. This downward migration can also contribute
or be the sole cause of laxity of the upper eyelids. Browlift
is designed to reposition the eyebrows to give the upper face
a more open appearance. Over elevation is avoided, however,
since this can lead to a surprised look. Incisions can be
made in different locations depending on the hairline through
either open or closed (endoscopic) approaches. At the same
time, treatment of the muscles between the eyebrows can be
used to soften the appearance of vertical wrinkles in that
area.

we age, the eyelids can develop a loose or puffy appearance.
In the upper eyelids, this can be mild or severe enough to lead
to a partial loss of visual field. In the lower eyelids, this
can give an appearance of fatigue with puffiness and dark circles
under the eyes. Eyelift, or blepharoplasty, can give a more
open and youthful appearance to the eyes by removing excess
skin and fat. Incisions are hidden in natural creases of the
upper eyelids. For the lower eyelids, the incisions are along
the lash line, inside the lid or both. New techniques are now
being used to decrease the hollow appearance of the lower eyelids
and the visibility of the bony structures of the orbit which
can occur following standard blepharoplasty by repositioning
the fat rather than removing significant amounts. |
